Dental Devotions: Any Voids in Your Life?

February 6, 2019

Last month, we discussed using marking paper to detect high or pressure spots on teeth that have had a filling or cap. This paper helps us detect areas that are occurring on the outside of the tooth. However, sometimes a crown or filling may appear to be perfect in form and function, but they are not. Sometimes a crown may have a void or hole inside the metal or porcelain.

The void is not noticeable to the naked eye, but it is there for sure and can cause problems down the road. These problems usually involve cracking or breakage of the crown. I don’t see this very often in my office, but it does happen. The problem, with a crown that is already in the mouth, is that I cannot go into the mouth and repair it. I just make a new crown.

You know that we can appear pretty good in form and function like a crown, but still have a void in our life. This void can lead to many problems in life. We try to fill this void with stuff and things, but it never fills up. This void is like a sink hole that can never be filled.

BUT, we were created by the good Lord and He wants to fill the void in our life, and He is the only way to fill the void and be complete. Col. 2:10 (KJV) says, 10 “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” And John 10:10 says 10B “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” For you see, this world cannot fill that void that is in all of us. Only Jesus can fill that void. Only in Him can we find peace for our weary souls.

As matter of fact, Col. 1:16 (NASB) says that “…all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Yes, He has a plan for us if we will only accept Him. And if we accept Him, the Bible says in 2 Cor. 5:17 (KJV) 17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Wow, we have become new and we have already seen that we are complete in Him. Now then, there are no voids left in us. When a void occurs in a restoration, I just replace it. That is what Jesus does for us. He replaces the old us with a new us. A new Spirit-filled life set apart to serve and glorify Him. So, I ask you, are there voids in your life? Jesus is the answer. He alone can fill those voids for you.
